US President Donald Trump said that Iran’s national football team may be able to participate in the World Cup to be held in the United States this year, he wrote on his social media account, APA reports.
"The Iran National Soccer Team is welcome to The World Cup, but I really don’t believe it is appropriate that they be there, for their own life and safety," he added.
It should be noted that Iran’s Minister of Sports Ahmad Donyamali said the country will not participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“Considering that the United States killed our leader, we cannot participate in the World Cup under any circumstances,” the minister said.
Ahmad Donyamali added that security conditions are not suitable for the national team to take part in the tournament.
“Our children are not safe, and in general, the necessary conditions for participating in such competitions do not exist,” the minister stressed.
It should be recalled that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in the summer of 2026 in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
