The winning team's goals were scored by Ousmane Dembélé (12th and 37th minutes), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (66), and Lee Kang-in (74). Marseille defender Facundo Medina scored an own goal in the 64th minute.
PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov played the entire match. This was his sixth game of the season and his third since breaking his arm on December 17 in the Intercontinental Cup final against Brazilian side Flamengo (1-1, 2-1 on penalties). He returned to full training on January 24, and four days later, he played in the final match of the Champions League against English side Newcastle (1-1). On February 2, Safonov appeared in the away match against Strasbourg in the French league (2-1) and saved a penalty. This was the Russian's third clean sheet of the season.
PSG haven't lost to Marseille at home since September 13, 2020, when Marseille won 1-0. Since then, the Parisians have won five matches in a row.
