Isgender Javadov: Victory over Finland nothing but soap-suds
-What can you say about Azeri squad’s victory over Finland?
- I congratulate the team on this victory. We need achievements like this. But they shouldn’t be much happy. Such cases were observed in other groups as well. And what was next? One victory doesn’t mean improvement in Azerbaijani football. They always lose by high scores. No improvement is possible in this condition. We are going to know real strength of the squad at the end.
- Do you think there will no such victories any more?
- Of course, I do. We close eyes after one victory and except further achievement. But there going to be nothing! The victory over Finland is nothing but soap-suds. It is impossible to make revolution four days after a 0-5 defeat by Poland. There are several leading teams in Europe that fail to win over weak squads. Finland beat Poland in the visit match. Now they lost to us. So, it means not much.
- Azerbaijan will meet Poland in Baku in June. How do you estimate our chance in this encounter?
-I don’t believe we are going to beat Poland in Baku either because the rival will prepare much seriously after Azerbaijan’s victory over Finland.
- AFFA secretary-general Fuad Esedov stated that no one needs veteran’s opinion and that their time is gone...
- Our time hasn’t gone yet. Esedov has reached 70, he is old enough. They ignore 90 percent of veterans. But we are still young and will show ourselves. They shouldn’t be worried about that.
-You often make radical statements on the AFFA leadership. Are you not afraid such statements may affect the career of your relatives Ilgar Gurbanov and Vagif Javadov who play in national squad?
- It would be insane if the federation takes such steps. Vagif and Ilgar are young players. They should play if they can. I am personally responsible for my statements. I am also Azerbaijani. AFFA officials should be reborn to have notion about football as much as I have.
- You disapprove the activities of both Fuad Musayev and Ramiz Mirzeyev. Do you see any positive aspects in the activity of either of them?
- Both activities are dissatisfactory. But Musayev did something in comparison. He could have succeeded but lost the post for some stupid steps. What a national team is it when 7-8 foreigners play in it?
- You stated that veterans were going to appeal to President Ilham Aliyev after the match with Finland. Is this issue still on agenda?
- President keeps all kinds of sports on focus. He is probably aware of the condition of Azeri football as well. He has stated many times he is a football fan. That’s why as veteran players we cannot be indifferent to the football in our country. I think we will appeal to the president soon.
- Have you changed plans after the victory over Finland?
- Personally I haven’t changed my plans. I stand my point. But some veterans that begin speaking if there is a defeat but prefer to keep silence if there is a victory. To tell the truth, 90 percent of football society is discontent with the activity of AFFA leadership. /APA-Sport/
