French footballers win FIFA U-17 Womenâ€™s World Cup Azerbaijan-2012

President Ilham Aliyev, President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Michel Platini, member of FIFA Executive Committee Lydia Nsekera, heads of international and national football unions attended the closing ceremony to watch the final match.

APA reports that the final match was between the teams of France and Democratic Peopleâ€™s Republic of Korea. France won the FIFA U-17 Womenâ€™s World Cup on penalties against Korea DPR following a 1-1 draw. The French became the first European side to be crowned champions at the competition after a 7-6 shoot-out victory.

The winners were awarded by President Ilham Aliyev, UEFA President Michel Platini, member of FIFA Executive Committee Lydia Nsekera.

The awarding ceremony was followed by performance of pop star Shakira in front of 27 000 people.
