The Spanish national football team defeated England 3-2 in their first match of the Nations League group stage, APA reports.
The match took place at Wembley Stadium in London.
The winners' goals were scored by Lamin Yamal (2nd minute), Alex Baena (60), and Mikel Oyarzabal (74). Anthony Gordon (36) and Harry Kane (40) scored for the losers. Kane missed a penalty in the 54th minute.
The teams are playing in Group 3 of the Nations League Elite Division. In the other match of the group, Croatia defeated the Czechs 2-1. In the next round, Spain will host Croatia, while England will play the Czechs away. The matches will take place on September 29.
In Group 1 of League B, Switzerland defeated North Macedonia 3-0, while Scotland and Slovenia tied 0-0. In Group 1 of League C, Finland defeated San Marino 7-0, while Albania defeated Belarus 2-0. In Group 3, Slovakia defeated Moldova 2-0, while the Faroe Islands and Kazakhstan drew 1-1. In Group 4, Luxembourg defeated Bulgaria 2-1, while Iceland and Estonia drew 1-1.
