45% of deposits of Azerbaijani population is in foreign currency

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. As of January 1, 2012, the volume of deposits of Azerbaijani population in banks rose 36% to AZN 4,119.8 mln.

The State Statistical Committee says deposits in the national currency during this period exceeded foreign currency deposits by AZN 2,281.7 mln or 55.45 of total deposits, which is up 24% from the deposits in foreign currency.

76.4% of bank deposits were placed at private banks.

Note that, in the January 2012, exchange rate of manat against 1 dollar amounted to AZN 0.79, against 100 Russian rubles - AZN 2.51, against euro - AZN 1.1.
