"At the COP29 Leaders’ Summit, discussions largely centered on financing climate change," President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told journalists as he returned from Azerbaijan, APA’s Türkiye correspondent reports.
President Erdoğan noted that the talks also focused on how to create the necessary financial resources, especially for developing countries:
“We discussed confirming the annual $100 billion climate finance target set at the 2009 Climate Summit in Denmark for the period after 2025 as well, along with additional support mechanisms. In my address at the summit, I explained our country’s efforts to combat climate change and emphasized that we will continue to contribute to global climate action. I highlighted the importance of the Zero Waste initiative, launched through the efforts of my wife, Emine Erdoğan, which has quickly grown into a global movement.”
Erdoğan also expressed his gratitude once again to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan for the invitation to COP29.
