Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Germany has exceeded USD 1 billion this year, Deputy Minister of Economy Samad Bashirli said at the “German-Azerbaijani Export Finance Conference 2025” held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, during the period from January to August of this year, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Germany surpassed USD 1 billion, with 94% of exports coming from the non-oil sector. The deputy minister noted that exports to Germany exceeded USD 900 million, while Azerbaijan’s investments in Germany surpassed USD 600 million.
“These figures keep Germany among Azerbaijan’s top five trading partners,” he emphasized.
Samad Bashirli added that currently, 199 German companies operate in Azerbaijan, and based on the cooperation roadmap, regular business dialogue, joint participation in international events, and knowledge exchange are being carried out.
The deputy minister noted that energy cooperation is one of the main directions of the partnership and stated that Germany’s experience in wind and solar technologies could play an important role in Azerbaijan’s onshore and offshore projects.
“The Caspian Sea has significant potential for implementing large-scale wind energy projects. By 2027, new wind and solar power plants with a total capacity of 3 GW will be put into operation in the country,” he added.
