Last year, the transit of Kazakh oil through the territory of Azerbaijan amounted to almost 1.5 million tons, said Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a joint statement to the press with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.

"I am pleased to note that joint activities in the field of transportation of Kazakh oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan route continue successfully. Last year, the transit of this strategic raw material through the territory of Azerbaijan amounted to almost 1.5 million tons.

It is planned to significantly increase this volume in the near future. The deep-sea power cable project, which should give a strong impetus to the development of our national energy systems, will significantly strengthen our positions in the export of "green energy".

Also, great work is being done to supply Kazakhstan's uranium products to foreign markets through the territory of Azerbaijan. In this context, I would like to express my gratitude to the esteemed President of Azerbaijan for his support for all major initiatives and projects," the President of Kazakhstan said.

The Kazakh leader also emphasized that broad cooperation opportunities have opened up in the IT sector: "Kazakhstan has gained experience in the field of implementing digital public services and developing IT technologies. We are ready to implement joint projects in this direction. During the talks, the importance of accelerating the project of laying an optical-fiber communication line along the bottom of the Caspian Sea was emphasized. The governments were given instructions to bring the project to full readiness as soon as possible."
