"Over the past 17 years (since 2008), SOCAR has invested over $18.5 billion in Türkiye's economy," the CEO of SOCAR Türkiye (representing SOCAR's interests in Türkiye), Elchin Ibadov said during a press conference in Istanbul, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, these investments have made SOCAR Türkiye the largest foreign investor in the country.
Elchin Ibadov also noted that SOCAR began its operations in Türkiye in 2008 by purchasing 51% of Petkim shares from the Privatization Administration of the Republic of Türkiye for $2 billion 40 million.
"As the largest foreign investor in Türkiye, SOCAR has invested a total of $18.5 billion in the country over the past 17 years," Elchin Ibadov stated.
