Revitalizing mature fields is one of the main priorities of SOCAR’s daily operations, said SOCAR’s Reservoir Development Manager, Murad Seyidov, during his speech at the SPE Caspian Technical Conference, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, there are a number of limitations in mature fields, and some of them have been in operation for more than 100 years.
“These (limitations- ed.) do not only mean the depletion of underground reserves, but also relate to the aging of applied practices, knowledge, infrastructure, old wells, and pipelines,” Murad Seyidov noted.
He added that more than 70% of global oil production is carried out in mature fields, and this indicator is increasing over time.
