Ensuring security is one of the main conditions for the sustainable development of the region, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon said at the opening of the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Azerbaijan and Central Asia in Awaza, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Turkmenistan reports.
The Tajik President said that threats related to terrorism, extremism, radicalism, organized crime and cybercrime persist.
According to him, the effectiveness of interaction and coordination between relevant agencies should be increased, while the exchange of information and practical experience should be expanded. It is also important to strengthen mechanisms for training specialists in the field of cybersecurity and the capacities of states.
Emomali Rahmon drew attention to the growing tension related to illicit drug trafficking, including the smuggling of synthetic narcotic substances, and called for the development of coordinated measures against threats to national security.
He noted that Tajikistan supports the swift restoration of lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan and is interested in the country’s socio-economic development.
The Tajik President also emphasized the importance of expanding the application of artificial intelligence technologies in the economic and social spheres, as well as developing cultural and humanitarian, educational, academic and scientific ties.
“The future development of our countries should primarily be aimed at improving the well-being and quality of life of our citizens. Tajikistan is ready to support the constructive initiatives of states and assist in the practical implementation of the agreements reached,” Emomali Rahmon said.
