Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan should join efforts toward creating a single tourism space, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov said at the opening of the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Azerbaijan and Central Asia in Awaza, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Turkmenistan reports.

He noted that the countries of the region have rich tourism potential that complements one another:

“Historic cities, mountain and Caspian routes, and rich cultural heritage allow us to combine our efforts to promote Central Asia and Azerbaijan as an attractive tourism destination.”

Sadyr Japarov proposed developing cooperation based on the principle of “One trip – several countries” and creating joint tourism routes covering the attractions of the countries of the region.

The Kyrgyz President also emphasized the importance of coordinating existing and prospective transport routes passing through Central Asia, the Caspian Sea and the South Caucasus. According to him, transport agencies and freight companies should develop practical solutions for setting unified tariffs, coordinating schedules, reducing cargo delays and ensuring the digital tracking of transportation.

Japarov said that the main result of cooperation should be a reduction in delivery costs and cargo transportation times. In his view, conditions should be created for each country to fully participate in regional transport projects and derive economic benefits from those projects.
