"Russia agreed on increasing the gas supply for Azerbaijan's domestic consumption," said Alexander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, APA-Economics reports citing TASS.

"There is an agreement with Azerbaijan to increase our supply because they have still a gas shortage. When they increase gas production in the future, we will be able to discuss the swaps (supply under the replacement scheme - ed.)", said Alexander Novak.

On November 15, Gazprom started to supply gas to Azerbaijan on the basis of the new agreement. In accordance with the agreement, until March of 2023, it will supply up to 1 bln cbm gas. In 2021, Azerbaijan and Russia agreed on cooperation in the field of seasonal exchange of natural gas. The contract, which is valid until 2023, provides for the transportation of gas from Azerbaijan to Russia in the summer season, as well as a similar volume of gas from Russia to Azerbaijan in the winter season.
