ROMGAZ Chisinau Branch was registered with the Public Services Agency of the Republic of Moldova in the State Register of Legal Entities, APA-Economics reports citing Energy Industry Review.
ROMGAZ Board of Directors approved the establishment of a natural gas supply branch in the Republic of Moldova and its registration under the name ‘Societatea Nationala de Gaze Naturale ROMGAZ S.A. Medias – Chisinau Branch’.
“In the near future, ROMGAZ will take the necessary steps to obtain the license to supply natural gas on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. We are convinced that the presence of ROMGAZ in the Republic of Moldova and the trading of natural gas on the centralized market in the Republic of Moldova will effectively contribute to the liberalization of the natural gas market in this country and to the creation of the necessary conditions to establish a real price for the benefit of consumers,” Aristotel Jude, ROMGAZ Deputy Chief Officer, added.
Note that from December 31, 2020, the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe through the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) began. It should be added that Moldova is among the countries that intend to buy Azerbaijani gas.
Recall that on February 3, 2023, within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council, SOCAR and "Romgaz S.A." signed an Agreement on the transportation of up to one billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan to Romania in 2023-2024. The Agreement is considered a continuation of the documents signed between SOCAR and Romgaz S.A. on October 19 and December 16, 2022.
On December 16, 2022, an agreement was signed between SOCAR and Romgaz S.A. on the supply of gas from the Republic of Azerbaijan to Romania. The contract envisages the planned transmission of TAP from the Greece-Komotini exit point through the Gas Interconnector Greece - Bulgaria (IGB) from January 1, 2023. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between SOCAR and Romgaz S.A. on October 19, 2022.
