Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov paid a visit to the Kingdom of Spain on October 6–7, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA .
During the visit, the 5th round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain was held in the capital, Madrid.
The delegations were led by Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov from the Azerbaijani side and Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs Diego Belío from the Spanish side.
During the consultations, the current state and prospects for the development of relations between the two countries in the political, economic, energy, including green energy, cultural, educational, tourism, transport and logistics, and other fields were extensively discussed. In this context, the sides exchanged views on the promotion of trade and investment, as well as cooperation within the framework of the "Strategic Economic Dialogue."
The meeting emphasized the importance of continuing mutual support within international organizations. Opportunities for exchanging experience and practical cooperation in the field of humanitarian demining were also considered.
As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation met with Pilar Sánchez-Bella Solís, Director of the Foreign Affairs Department at the Office of the President of the Government (Prime Minister) of Spain.
Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov also met with Vice President of the Spanish Senate Javier Maroto. The sides emphasized the role of interparliamentary relations in promoting parliamentary diplomacy and developing bilateral ties.
In addition, Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov delivered a presentation on "Azerbaijan's Foreign Policy" to faculty members and students at the Spanish Diplomatic School.
During the visit, the Deputy Foreign Minister also gave interviews to leading Spanish media outlets on the current state of bilateral relations between the two countries and opportunities for future cooperation.
