Growth observed in major indices in world stock markets

Indices in the US and European stock markets increased mainly, APA-Economics reports.

On October 4, the main indices in the US stock markets increased. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 0.51% to 46,758.28 points, the S&P 500 advanced by 0.01% to 6,715.79 points, the NYSE Composite increased by 0.54% to 21,725.40 points, and the S&P/TSX Composite increased by 1.03% to 30,471.68 points. The only decrease was recorded in the Nasdaq Composite index - a decrease of 0.28% to 22,780.51 points.

European stock exchanges also mainly increased. The FTSE 100 rose 0.67% to 9,491.25 points, the CAC 40 rose 0.31% to 8,081.54 points, the IBEX 35 rose 0.57% to 15,585.10 points, and the Euro Stoxx 50 rose 0.10% to 5,651.71 points. The decline was recorded only in the German DAX index - it fell 0.18% to 24,378.80 points.

Analysts explain the increase in the indices by the strengthening of investors' expectations of a soft decline in the US economy and the stabilization of energy prices in Europe. It is noted that the decrease in the Nasdaq is associated with increased sales in technology sector stocks.
