BP prepares to drill an exploration well in the Shah Deniz field

"As part of the development of the "Shahdeniz" gas-condensate field located in the Azerbaijani part of the Caspian Sea, the British BP company, the operator of the project, plans to start drilling an exploratory well in the field in the first quarter of next year," Gary Jones, BP's regional president on Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkiye told in a response to APA's question.

According to him, the well will be realized via the semi-submersible drilling rig named after Heydar Aliyev under Azerbaijan's Caspian Drilling Company (CDC). The relevant agreement was signed between the parties and the drilling rig has been in BP's possession for 10 days.

"Currently, relevant mobilization and preparation works are carried out in the rig in order to start the drilling works," he said
