Municipal elections to kick off in Azerbaijan today

Municipal elections will be held in Azerbaijan today, APA reports.

8,071 members will be elected to 685 municipalities in 118 constituencies.

The number of candidates whose names were included in the ballot papers in the municipal elections is 16,092. 8,424 of the 16,092 candidates were nominated by 23 political parties. As for party affiliation, 8,504 of the 16,092 candidates are members of 24 political parties. 7,588 independent candidates will compete in the elections.

5,961,987 voters with the right to vote in the municipal elections will be able to vote in 5,846 polling stations. Of these, 5,734 are permanent and 112 are temporary polling stations. Web cameras have been installed in 1,000 polling stations.

A total of 70,625 observers were accredited by the Central Election Commission and Constituency Election Commissions in the municipal elections. 26,260 of the observers are observers nominated by 24 political parties.

In accordance with the requirements of the Election Code, today will be a non-working day due to voting in the municipal elections.
