The State Committee for Work with Diaspora told APA that the Coordination Center for Azerbaijanis in Germany has sent a letter of protest to the Bundestag in this regard: “This step of German Bundestag member Jürgen Klimke is contrary to the resolution adopted by the United Nations and European Parliament and supporting the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan Republic. Nagorno Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan Republic and all visits to this region should be coordinated by the Azerbaijani managing bodies.”

The letter noted that Jürgen Klimke’s illegal visit to Nagorno Karabakh is also contrary to the policy of The Federal Republic of Germany recognizing Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity: “His meeting with the leader of the unrecognized so-called republic can be assessed not only as the violation of the international law and justification of actions of the aggressor, but also as a step taken against the policy pursued by the European Union and international forces towards peaceful resolution of the conflict. This action intensifies already difficult relations in the South Caucasus and deal a blow to the peace talks.”

On behalf of the Azerbaijanis living in Germany, the Center emphasizes the importance of preventing such provocative actions in the future and considers that such a control will contribute to further developing Azerbaijan’s relations with the European countries, especially with Germany.
