US President Donald Trump has shared a map on his Truth Social account depicting the Strait of Hormuz as “new US territory, Donald Trump, APA reports.
The map labels the strategic waterway connecting the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman as “NEW U.S. Territory.”
Trump had previously said that the Strait of Hormuz could be declared US territory and stressed that the United States controls the waterway.
In a map shared on August 18, Trump also depicted the strait as “new US territory.”
It should be noted that Trump’s position has been rejected by Iran. Tehran maintains that there is no legal basis for the United States to declare the Strait of Hormuz its territory. The strait lies between Iran and Oman and is considered a strategically important route for international shipping.
