"We initiated the peace agreement with Armenia because we did not want endless wars and had no intention of seeking revenge," President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at the opening of the 7th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, APA reports.
"The 2020 war and the anti-terrorist operation carried out in 2023 put an end to the occupation. We fully restored our territorial integrity and sovereignty in accordance with international law. After that, we offered peace to Armenia, which is also an unprecedented event. We cannot find an example in the history of wars where countries achieved peace less than two years after the last bloody confrontation. Last summer, the peace agreement was initialed. We initiated the peace agreement with Armenia because we did not want endless wars and had no intention of seeking revenge. Although I think emotions should also be taken into account. I always say that we took our revenge on the battlefield, and we should not go any further. Otherwise, the war will be endless," the head of state noted.
