The US Department of Justice has charged James Comey, who served as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from 2013 to 2017, with illegally disclosing national security information, APA reports.
According to the indictment, Comey passed defense-related information to a person who did not have access to it in October 2016 and conspired with one or more individuals to do so.
According to Reuters, Comey has pleaded not guilty, while his lawyers have filed a motion with the court to dismiss the charges.
