"We must be determined to protect our identity, statehood, independence, and way of life," President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at the opening of the 7th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, APA reports.
"None of the systems under which we had to live could suppress our national sentiments and sense of statehood. That is precisely why, after Azerbaijan restored its independence — by the way, this month we celebrated the 35th anniversary of the restoration of our independence — we became masters of our own destiny. What guests see today in Baku and other regions of Azerbaijan was largely created during the period of independence, when we became masters of our own destiny. It was after this that we demonstrated to the entire world what we could achieve. Another of our important achievements is that during the years of independence, we not only preserved our traditions and way of life but also strengthened them further. Today, Azerbaijani society demonstrates its unity on all issues. As I have repeatedly stated, we have no internal risks in Azerbaijan. All potential risks originate from beyond our borders. Ideological risks are as dangerous as physical risks. Therefore, we must always remain vigilant. We must be determined to protect our identity, statehood, independence and way of life," the head of state noted.
