"Azerbaijan is participating in the development of a strategic roadmap on artificial intelligence," Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization Shaikha Al Nowais said at a special joint session of the 3rd High-Level Meeting of International Organizations and the 6th Ministerial Meeting within the framework of the Baku Process, APA reports.
The Secretary-General of the organization stated that Azerbaijan is one of the countries participating in the development of a strategic roadmap that takes into account governments' needs and levels of readiness for the application of artificial intelligence.
"For technologies to bring cultures closer together, their development should not be left to take its own course, and various stakeholders must participate in shaping this process. The Riyadh Declaration, adopted by the organization's member states in 2025, reaffirmed that technologies must serve people. To achieve this, investments must be made in skills development, infrastructure, and responsible governance," she said.
She emphasized that the application of artificial intelligence should be assessed not only by the scale of technological development but also by its contribution to people's lives.
"The organization is expanding access to training opportunities for workers and representatives of small businesses, while also supporting African countries in developing their own technological solutions," she said.
The speech also highlighted the importance of preserving local communities' ability to control how their cultures and histories are represented through artificial intelligence. It was noted that human rights, privacy, and the well-being of local communities should be the main priorities in this area.
Shaikha Al Nowais emphasized the importance of the parties presenting not only the results of discussions but also the tangible changes achieved at the next meeting, which will be held in two years.
