Baku Metro restores direct service between Hazi Aslanov and Icherisheher stations
# 27 October 2026 10:55 (UTC +04:00)

Direct train service on the Hazi Aslanov–Icherisheher section has been restored as of October 27, 2026, Baku Metro CJSC told APA-Economics.

Before the dead-end tracks were put into operation, clearance dimensions were checked using a maintenance train in accordance with technical requirements, and test runs were conducted under high voltage. During the inspections, train traffic safety, the reliability of the power supply, as well as the stability of centralized control of engineering, technical and communication systems were confirmed, and the facility, which meets all standards, was accepted into operation.

Thus, shuttle train service on the Hazi Aslanov–Ahmadli section has been discontinued, and train operations in the Hazi Aslanov–Icherisheher direction have resumed as before. On the Red Line, the interval between trains is 2 minutes during peak hours and 2 minutes and 30 seconds at other times.

Recall that comprehensive reconstruction work was carried out in the area because the insulation layer of the dead-end track, constructed between 1981 and 1987, had deteriorated due to groundwater and erosion over more than 20 years of operation.

This project, implemented by Baku Metro under the 2025–2030 State Program, aims to modernize metro infrastructure and improve passenger transportation safety.
