Georgia's Municipal Development Fund will carry out the procurement of design and construction services for a new building for the Georgian Embassy in Azerbaijan, APA's local bureau reports.
This is stated in a decision signed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to the document, the embassy building will be constructed on a 3,444.5-square-meter plot of land located at the intersection of Nariman Narimanov and Bashir Safaroglu streets in Baku's Yasamal district. The procurement process will be carried out under a single "Design-Build" contract combining the design and construction stages.
The works planned for 2026 will be financed through funds approved in the state budget for Georgia's Municipal Development Fund. Financing for subsequent stages will be included in the 2027 budget and, if necessary, the budgets of subsequent years.
Following the completion of construction works, the building will be transferred to the balance sheet of the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani side handed over the land plot to Georgia in January 2025 for the construction of the new embassy building. The area has been allocated for both the embassy building and the ambassador's residence.
Currently, the Georgian Embassy in Azerbaijan is located at 13/15 Yashar Huseynov Street in Baku's Narimanov district.
