Disagreements between the United States and Europe over Russia and economic policy are increasing tensions in transatlantic relations, APA reports, citing Bloomberg.

According to the agency, US officials conveyed their dissatisfaction to Berlin after German representatives openly criticised Washington's currency interventions and took a tough stance against Russia at a G20 meeting.

Bloomberg reported that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was particularly unhappy with German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil's uncompromising and openly confrontational stance towards his Russian counterpart Anton Siluanov.

According to Bloomberg, the developments reflect growing tensions in relations between the United States and Europe. Washington and European capitals have recently taken differing positions on a range of issues, from trade tariffs and the war in Ukraine to relations with Russia.
