Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone conversations with Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre at the request of the leaders of Finland and Norway, the Kremlin said, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
It was noted that the leaders discussed issues related to resolving the Ukrainian crisis.
During the telephone conversations, Putin assessed the current situation in the conflict zone in Ukraine and recalled its root causes.
The Russian President stated that a just and lasting peace in Ukraine is possible only if Russia's interests are taken into account.
Putin drew attention to what he described as the confrontational policies of NATO and European Union countries that prolong the conflict in Ukraine.
He informed the Finnish and Norwegian leaders about the humanitarian operation being carried out in the area of the city of Oleshky with US mediation.
Putin and the leaders of Finland and Norway agreed to maintain direct telephone contact.
During his conversations with Stubb and Støre, Putin also discussed security issues in the Baltic Sea and Northern Europe.
The leaders reaffirmed the importance of observing international maritime law and the principle of freedom of navigation.

According to the Finnish Presidential Administration, the telephone conversations were initiated by the European leaders.
Stubb described the conversation as "frank and meaningful," while Støre said that the Europeans had emphasized the importance of de-escalating the conflict in Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov neither confirmed nor denied Putin's possible conversations with the leaders of Norway and Finland.
