California storm brings mudslides, flooding

Baku – APA. Authorities say approximately six foothill homes in wildfire burn areas northeast of Los Angeles are under mandatory evacuation orders after a pounding winter storm triggered mudslides and caused widespread flooding, APA reports quoting “Associated Pressâ€.
County sheriff’s deputies are walking door to door Saturday to tell residents in the La Canada Flintridge area to get out after a debris flow up to 4 feet high damaged an unknown number of homes.
Residents have been rescued from houses and vehicles stuck in the mud. No injuries are reported.
Storm drains are overloaded and traffic jams are reported across Los Angeles County. In Long Beach, a section of the 710 Freeway was closed because of flooding.
The storm dumped about 2 inches of rain in downtown Los Angeles overnight.
