An Azerbaijani delegation operating in the field of innovation visited DeserTech, one of Israel's leading innovation ecosystems, as part of its visit to the country, APA's correspondent dispatched to Israel reports.
The delegation was welcomed by DeserTech Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sivan Cohen Shachari.
He provided detailed information about the center's activities, ongoing projects, and its role in Israel's innovation ecosystem.
It was noted that DeserTech is one of the leading platforms promoting the development of technologies aimed at creating innovative solutions for arid and desert climate conditions. The center brings together startups, companies, investors, and research institutions operating in the fields of water technologies, climate technologies, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and high technologies.
During the meeting, the delegation was briefed on the development of Israel's innovation model, the mechanisms behind the growth of its startup ecosystem, public-private sector cooperation, and achievements in the commercialization of technologies.
Later, members of the Azerbaijani delegation and DeserTech's leadership discussed prospects for cooperation in innovation, technology transfer, international market access for startups, agrotechnologies, artificial intelligence, and climate technologies.
In his remarks, Sivan Cohen Shachari highlighted Azerbaijan's growing role in innovation and digital transformation in the region, noting that favorable opportunities exist for expanding cooperation between the two countries in technology and innovation. He particularly emphasized the importance of joint initiatives in sustainable development in desert and semi-desert areas, efficient water resource management, and agricultural innovations.
The discussions also covered strengthening innovation-driven cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel, implementing joint projects, establishing links between startups, exploring investment opportunities, and organizing exchanges of experience.
The parties noted that expanding cooperation in innovation and high technologies would contribute to the economic development of both countries, the implementation of new technological solutions, and the achievement of sustainable development goals.
