The transfer of the chairmanship of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) to Azerbaijan is extremely important for us, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT) Numan Kurtulmuş told journalists in Baku, APA reports.
The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament said that holding this meeting in Baku is of particular importance for Türkiye.
According to him, at a time when the world is experiencing such major upheavals and passing through significant turbulence, the state of the Islamic world is truly very important:
“It is not possible for a unipolar world system to exist. No country or region can govern the world on its own. A new era is beginning. In fact, these wars, tensions and problems are the birth pains of a new world. The signs of the new world are emerging. Completely new centers will arise here. It would be more accurate to speak not of multipolarity, but rather of multicentrality. With the formation of a multicentral world, we are entering a new phase. In this process, the Islamic world is a region with truly great potential and very important opportunities. It has a population of nearly 2 billion people, and almost all of the world's strategic transit points pass through the Islamic world. I say this both in terms of energy routes and the centers of power in global politics. Therefore, it is necessary to recognize this.”
Numan Kurtulmuş called on the Islamic world to unite: “Unfortunately, the current situation shows that we are not yet at the point where we can fully utilize this potential. First of all, differences of opinion among Islamic countries, political differences, ethnic and sectarian diversity should not turn into confrontation. If we approach it this way, we can truly become seriously influential in this process.”
