Baku hosts international conference entitled “A Taste of the Silk Road: Food, Culture and Tourism” - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

APA reports that Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization Taleb Rifai, Iranian Vice-President and Head of Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization Hassan Mousavi, lecturers and experts of the World Trade Organization, guests at ministerial level from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Lithuania and Pakistan, the representatives of tourism organization of Spain, Korea, Russia, Bulgaria, Sweden, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, Great Britain, Uzbekistan, Thailand, France, Germany and China attend the conference.

Greeting the participants of the conference, Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev told that the historical Silk Road played an important role in the culture, idea, technology and human metabolism between East and West: The aim of the Silk Road Program consists of sustainable development of tourism through Silk Road with joint efforts. Azerbaijan has already its place and image in the World Tourism Organization. Holding a lot of international festivals and events is an obvious example of this. The culinary, tourism and other traditions of Azerbaijan and its neighbors are demonstrated at this conference and cooperation is established between the countries.

The minister noted that a specialized tourism conference will be held in Azerbaijan till the end of this year and it will make contribution to the world tourism.

Speaking about the significance of the international conference held in Azerbaijan, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization Taleb Rifai considered this event as significant for introducing the countries. Iranian Vice-President and Head of Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization Hassan Mousavi expressed his gladness for the organization of the event at a high level: “Iran always gives much attention tourism and this process goes on rapidly in our country. 3 mln tourists arrived in our country last year and this figure will be 7 mln till the end of 2012. It is sufficiently growth and it makes up happy.”

Seminars on theme “Food and Tourism: Global inclinations and chances”, “The establishment of the Silk Road as leading network of culinary venues” and “Food for development” were held on the first day of the event.

On the second day of the event, the round tables on themes “The Silk Road in the global tour media” and “Digital period: Social media and tour” will be held. Presentation of the Azerbaijani and Turkish cuisines and master classes will be held within the conference. Wine tastings production of Azerbaijan and Georgia will be held.
