Heydar Aliyev Center, IDEA PU and Azerbaijan Cycling Federation organized enlightening mass actions in Baku in connection with the World Carfree Day. The actions were supported by Baku Transport Agency.
APA reports that firstly, a bicycle ride under the motto of “Cycling to work!” was held within the event.
The main goal of the bicycle ride is to encourage the use of environmentally friendly transport facilities, public transport, walking and reducing emissions to the atmosphere. The bicycle ride started from the Azneft circle and ended at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
The tradition to celebrate the World Carfree Day appeared in 1997 in the UK with the goal of protecting the environment. Currently, more than 1500 cities in 35 countries have joined this campaign.
