An international conference titled "Teaching Turkic Languages, Literatures and Histories in the Context of Modern Challenges" was held as part of "Turkic World Week" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress, APA reports.
The Baku State University Rector Elchin Babayev, Deputy Minister of Culture Saadat Yusifova, President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, and others delivered speeches at the conference.
BSU Rector Elchin Babayev said that the scientific and cultural programs held during the week serve to preserve the history, culture, and traditions of the Turkic peoples, as well as to identify new directions for future cooperation: "The issues discussed here covered not only the scientific problems of the era, but also the fundamental ideas shaping the future development concept of the Turkic peoples."
Deputy Minister of Culture Saadat Yusifova said that the Turkic world is currently at a new stage of development: "The development of political relations among our countries, economic cooperation, education, progress, the expansion of cultural exchanges, and the preservation and enrichment of culture occupy an important place in our meetings."
President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev said that the Congress became a turning point in the scientific and cultural development of all Turkic peoples and in the widespread dissemination of education and literacy among the Turkic peoples, thus playing an exceptional role in the cultural history of the 20th century.
President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova stated that Turkic languages are carriers of a rich cultural heritage, historical memory, and shared values: "Therefore, preserving them and expanding their teaching and everyday use is one of the important tasks."
Rector of the Kazakh National University, Professor Zhanseit Tuimebayev, said that the Turkic Unity once dreamed of during the Soviet era has now become a reality.
