Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that China is forming a coalition in the field of artificial intelligence with the participation of 29 countries, including Russia, Belarus, Brazil, Kazakhstan, and Indonesia, APA reports.
On Friday, July 17, Xi spoke for the first time at China’s premier technology event — the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. In his speech, he called for more open development in the AI sector and for international cooperation.
“This is an important step by China in response to the call of countries of the Global South and in uniting the international community for the active development and governance of artificial intelligence. This will become an important milestone in the history of AI development,” Xi said.
The Chinese president called for the introduction of laws and technological monitoring systems to prevent abuse and malicious use of AI, and also to ensure that this technology always remains under human control.
