The Azerbaijani government has repatriated a total of 16 Azerbaijani citizens, including seven women and nine children, from the Syrian Arab Republic on July 18 and 19 this year as a result of phased and coordinated measures, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told APA.
The location, identity, and Azerbaijani citizenship of the repatriates were first established.
Members of the Working Group consisting of state agencies responsible for the repatriation of Azerbaijani citizens facing crisis situations in foreign countries were dispatched to Syria, and the repatriates were provided with initial medical and psychological examinations.
Subsequently, through coordination carried out by the Embassies of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of Türkiye, as well as the Consulate General in Istanbul, our citizens were provided with certificates of return to the Republic of Azerbaijan and airline tickets and were brought back to the country.
Relevant measures are planned to ensure the social rehabilitation and reintegration of the repatriates into society.
The Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan will continue taking the necessary measures for the repatriation of Azerbaijani citizens who have become victims of armed conflicts in foreign countries.
