US Army-sponsored school for internally displaced children opened in Bina Settlement

Baku. Tamara Grigorieva-APA. A new school has been built in Bina Settlement for the internally displaced children from Lachin Region. US Army European Command sponsored the construction of the school with 11 classrooms, library and water supply systems. American engineers were also involved in the construction work. Addressing the opening ceremony, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Derse said representatives of different faiths and nations had to care about each other for the sunny future of the children. “This school is a concrete evidence of Azerbaijan-US friendship. US Vice President Richard Cheney visiting Azerbaijan last week said that US had deep interests in Azerbaijan’s sustainable stability and progressâ€. The ambassador said US supported Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and wanted the Nagorno Karabakh conflict to be solved peacefully through the negotiations. Deputy Chief of US Army European Command Robert Moore said US thanked Azerbaijan for joining the security programs. “We continue cooperation with Azerbaijan in this field. We can build excellent future for our children working together and defending security and freedomâ€. Chairman of State Committee for Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov said the United States always took univocal position on the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. “In this respect US position can be an example for other countries, as well as for some neighboring countriesâ€. Hasanov said some international organizations thought that Azerbaijani IDPs didn’t need in the assistance more. “Therefore they stopped assistance programs. But they don’t take into consideration the still unresolved problems of Azerbaijani IDPs. Those international organizations have to follow US example in this fieldâ€.
