59 destructive religious literatures prevented to pass to Azerbaijan last year

Bakuâ€“APA. 102 religious communities were registered in Azerbaijan and last year, press service of the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations told APA. 101 of them were Islamic and one â€“ non-Islamic (Sumgayit-based â€œKubarâ€ (â€œAristocratâ€) Jewish community). There are 533 registered religious communities in Azerbaijan now. Import and spread of destructive religious literature in the country was reduced last year. 1507 literatures were monitored in 2008 and 59 of them were identified as a literature of religious intolerance and discrimination. The State Committee for Work with Religious Associations held meetings with the local authorities and law-enforcement bodies to discuss the methods of prevention the destructive books. Relevant works have been done last year for involvement of young people in the public services and the State Committee personnel. The State Committee for Work with Religious Associations has good cooperation with the Commission of Public Services under the President. 11 young specialists were provided with a job and useful condition for improvement of their professional skills in 2008.
