Pilgrim Ramil Bayramov told APA that nearly 20 busses of Azerbaijani pilgrims were checked in the “Red Bridge”. To the pilgrim, there arrived at the border of Azerbaijan at 13:00, but were not allowed to cross the border. Bayramov said about 300 pilgrims were awaiting the results of the checkup. “It is known that Saudi Arabia is a state promoting Wahhabism. Koran and religious books were given to the pilgrims while crossing the border. It is obvious that they distribute books in line with their confidence. But knowing the Arabic language we threw those books. Those, who do not know the Arabic language, keep the books. Maybe someone has a banned literature. We do not say that there are no people inclined to Wahhabism among the pilgrims. But responsible persons should be exposed. Why should not we go home because of somebody’s guilt?” he said.
Caucasian Muslims Office told APA they were unaware of it and would investigate it. It was also noted that checkup on border checkpoint was a normal procedure.
The office said all the pilgrims, who had left for Hajj by plane, arrived in Azerbaijan, and those, who had left for Hajj by buses, were still coming.
