The oldest car of the Beijing-Paris car rally - American LaFrance Type 10, manufactured in 1914, caught fire during the march on the route in Baku, Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan Automobile Federation (AAF) told APA.
This morning, the car heading from Baku to Georgia caught fire due to technical reasons at the exit of the capital.
The owner of the car is Thomas de Vargas Machuca, the head of the project, the head of the Hero-Ero club.
Other unique retro cars participating in the Beijing-Paris car rally are currently in Azerbaijan’s Shamakhi district. Cars that continue to march are displayed in Meysari village of Shamakhi district.
Note that with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Automobile Federation and the Baku City Ring Operating Company, Azerbaijan is hosting the participants of one of the most exciting competitions in the world for the first time. After Shamakhi, the cars will continue the route by crossing to Georgia.
