Azerbaijan’s strategic foreign exchange reserves currently stand at around $91 billion, Prime Minister Ali Asadov said during discussions at the Cabinet of Ministers on the “Draft state and consolidated budgets for 2027, consolidated budget indicators for the next three years, and socio-economic development forecasts,” APA reports.
The Prime Minister said this figure is nearly 20 times higher than the country’s external public debt: “Our direct external public debt stood at $4.5 billion as of September 1, accounting for 5.6% of projected GDP. In eight months of 2026, the foreign trade surplus exceeded $10 billion.
“Annual inflation stood at 5.7% in the first eight months of 2026. Taking into account international organisations’ forecasts for food and commodity prices, the stability of the manat exchange rate and the balance in the foreign exchange market, average annual inflation is projected to decline to 5.3% next year and remain within the target range,” Ali Asadov said.
