The Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will continue to be held in the country for the next five years, Apasport.az reports.

The organization’s official website announced the decision.

The Baku City Circuit made its Formula 1 debut in 2016 under the name European Grand Prix and has been a permanent stage of the calendar as the Azerbaijan Grand Prix since 2017. Last year’s race attracted fans from more than 70 countries and drew an estimated global television audience of over 66 million viewers.

Over the course of eight races held to date, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix has produced seven different winners, making it one of the most competitive events on the Formula 1 calendar. Mexican driver Sergio Pérez remains the only pilot to have won twice in Baku. Among current drivers, Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, and Oscar Piastri have all claimed victories on the Baku circuit.

The official signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali, and Baku City Circuit Operations Company CEO Maqsud Farzullayev.

It should be noted that this year’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix will conclude on September 21.
