European Games: Opening ceremony was held-PHOTO

The official opening ceremony for the III European Games took place in Krakow, Poland, Apasport.az reports from the scene.

The event was held at the Wisla stadium.

The ceremony, which began at 22:30 Baku time, included an athlete parade. The parade included the Azerbaijani national team. Our flag was carried by fencer Barat Guliyev and archer Yaylagul Ramazanova, and it was accompanied by our team's chef-de-mission, Elnur Mammadov, director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports' sports department, athletes, and officials. The athletes who will go to Poland later, as well as compete soon and test their strength in other cities, did not participate in the event since they would arrive late. The Azerbaijani national team passed sixth in the parade.

Note that the first European Games were held in Baku in 2015, and the second multi-sport tournament was held in Minsk in 2019. In these events, the Azerbaijani national team won 84 medals. Our competitors took home 26 gold medals, 25 silver medals, and 33 bronze medals. Our squad finished second in Baku in 2015 and tenth in Minsk in 2019.
