The European Judo Championships continue in Podgorica, Montenegro, with another medal added to Azerbaijan’s tally on the second day of the tournament, Apasport.az reports.
Rashid Mammadaliyev secured the bronze in the men’s 73 kg weight category. He began by defeating Benjamin Levi of Great Britain in the round of 16, followed by a victory over Otari Kvantidze of Portugal. In the quarterfinals, Mammadaliyev overcame France’s Joan-Benjamin Gaba, whom Hidayat Heydarov had previously beaten at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
In the semifinals, Mammadaliyev faced Danil Lavrentev (IJF) but was defeated. He then fought for the bronze against Daniel Zegedi of Hungary and emerged victorious.
