President Ilham Aliyev has praised Pakistan's efforts to help resolve the conflict between the United States and Iran, APA reports.
President Aliyev addressed the issue while answering a Pakistani journalist's question about Islamabad's peace efforts to resolve the US-Iran conflict at the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum.
"My message to them is to convey my best wishes and to encourage them to continue these remarkable efforts. I called my dear brother, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and congratulated him on the agreement that had been reached because it became possible largely thanks to Pakistan's mediation efforts. This once again demonstrates that your country enjoys great respect in the international community. Pakistan was the only country that assumed the responsibility of carrying out this mediation mission. We closely followed the developments and saw that both the Prime Minister, the Field Marshal, and their teams were fully committed to this process. I am confident that in light of the recent developments and the renewed tensions, they will once again do everything possible to stop the confrontation. I do not think there is any other country, apart from Pakistan, that can achieve this. I hope and believe that they will once again succeed in contributing to the establishment of peace in the Middle East. This is yet another demonstration of your country's potential, the capabilities of its leaders, and the broad international respect Pakistan has earned not only in this matter but in general," the head of state said.
