The French government is considering blocking social media platforms that fail to remove posts calling for rebellion and violence following requests from the authorities, APA reports, citing Le Figaro.
According to the report, an amendment to the relevant bill has been submitted to parliament.
Under the proposal, platforms would be required to remove content calling for terrorist acts, rebellion and armed struggle within one hour.
They would have 24 hours to remove calls for murder, violence and looting.
The initiative was proposed following mass riots that accompanied protests held on October 17.
