"If you had looked at the flight map during the period of intense confrontation, you would have seen that the very narrow air corridor passed precisely through Azerbaijan," President Ilham Aliyev said at the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, APA reports.

"If you had looked at the flight map during the period of intense confrontation, you would have seen that the very narrow air corridor passed precisely through Azerbaijan. The same applies to maritime transportation across the Caspian Sea and land transport. All these factors further increase Azerbaijan's importance. It is gratifying that we are ready to accommodate the growing cargo flow. We are currently expanding our infrastructure. The capacity of our port, the largest commercial port in the Caspian basin, which currently handles 15 million tonnes of cargo annually, will be increased to 25 million tonnes. At present, 10 vessels are being built at our shipbuilding yard to transport cargo to and from Europe. Our close relations with the Central Asian countries and the European Commission, as well as our location at the very center of these two directions, create a major advantage for Azerbaijan. Of course, Azerbaijan's policy has always been aimed at cooperation, taking into account the concerns of our neighbors and ensuring that they are also sensitive to our concerns. This is exactly the atmosphere we feel at the Media Forum in Shusha. We are trying to create the same atmosphere of cooperation and trust among our international partners, and I hope we have succeeded," the head of state noted.
