President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed an Order on "Measures regarding the restoration and conservation of the Momine Khatun Mausoleum located in the city of Nakhchivan, a world-renowned historical and architectural monument," APA reports.
In order to preserve the unique historical appearance of the Momine Khatun Mausoleum and pass it on to future generations, for implementing initial restoration and conservation work at this world-renowned historical and architectural monument AZN 1 million has been allocated from the Presidential Reserve Fund envisaged in the 2025 state budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The Momine Khatun Mausoleum, a major historical and cultural landmark located in the city of Nakhchivan, is a magnificent monument of Azerbaijani national architecture and one of the jewels of Eastern architecture. This rare and monumental masterpiece, created by the 12th century outstanding Azerbaijani architect Ajami Nakhchivani occupies a prestigious place among the masterpieces of the Islamic world for its compositional solutions, perfection, and elegance. The mausoleum, of unparalleled beauty, is a vivid embodiment of the highly developed culture and statehood traditions of Azerbaijan during that era. The Momine Khatun Mausoleum has been included in the list of world-renowned cultural heritage examples that are protected at the state level as the national treasure of our people.
