“Azerbaijani Press Council is always concerned about the journalist arrest, regardless of the committed act, the accusation put forward against. As well as we are concerned about the arrest of Evez Zeynalli, editor in chief of “Khural” newspaper,” said the chair of Azerbaijan’s Press Council Aflatun Amashov, APA reports.
According to him, there is a tense period in the activity of the Press Council. A congress will be held soon: “This does not give us a reason to put the fateful issues related to journalists in the background.”
Note that Azerbaijani journalist, the head of Khural Internet TV Avaz Zeynalli, and lawyer Elchin Sadigov were sentenced to 4 months of preventive detention under the article 311.3.3 (taking a large amount of bribe) of the Criminal Code.
